مــــاضی بعیـد ( گذشته ی کامل )
ماضی بعید به عملی اشاره می کند که در گذشته قبل از عمل دیگری انجام شده باشد .
بقیه ی جمله + اسم مفعول + had + فاعل = ماضی بعید
تذکر : ماضی بعید بندرت به تنهایی بکار می رود و اغلب بوسیله ی کلمات ربط نظیر before -after
because – when و … با گذشته ی ساده طبق الگوی زیر همراه است .

| گذشته ی ساده + when + ماضی بعید |
| ماضی بعید + because + گذشته ی ساده |
| ماضی بعید + after + گذشته ی ساده |
- Ali had eaten a sandwich before he went to bed .
- I had finished my work when you came .
- She was tired because he had walked for 5 hours .
- They ate lunch after she had left home .
یادآوری : می توان الگوهای فوق را بشـکل الگوی زیر تغییر داد که در این حـالت دو جمله بوسـیله یک کاما از یکدیگر جدا می شوند .
